LAKE SANTO
Nestled in the green of the mountains!
Nestled in the green of the mountains!
Lago Santo is nestled among the green mountains of the Modena Apennines, where you can look for mushrooms, blueberries, walk and relax in an environment far from the frenetic pace of modern civilization.
With a perimeter of 1.3 km and a depth of about 10 m (measured on site with Massimo also participating in the dives), the lake has attractions that can amaze and fascinate any hiker.
Located at an altitude of 1501 meters, the ease of reaching the lake both by car and on foot following the numerous existing paths, makes this place one of the most popular in the Apennine territory.
The lake is of glacial origin and on its shoulders it still bears the sign of many popular legends about the origin of its name, which refer to the death, or of young lovers or hunters, swallowed up by the lake after the breaking of the frozen surface, with the subsequent sanctification of the waters.
During the winter the lake freezes until it disappears and leaves a white expanse that would not let you think there is water; the layer of ice can even reach a thickness of 50/60 cm and more.
