MOUNT GIOVO
One of the highest peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines!
One of the highest peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines!
Aerial photo taken by my friend Luca (whom I thank) and which shows you the splendid Emilian side of our Monte Giovo in the last days of December 2018
Located between the municipalities of Pievepelago on the Modena side and Barga on the Serchio River Valley side, it overlooks Lago Santo with a sheer drop of about 500 m.
With its 1997 m of height it is one of the highest peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.
The panorama that we can admire on particularly clear days from its summit is wonderful: the view can even reach the sea, showing us some Tuscan islands and the inlets of Liguria.
A wonderful giant that gives us beautiful emotions in all seasons, with whatever discipline we tackle it. A magnificent amusement park for mountaineers and ice climbers, a playground for beginners and experts.
Below is a nice series of shots of this peak, if you have some beautiful photos and want to see them in this section, send them to us by email or bring them to the refuge, we will gladly publish them.
